Year 1 News

30th May 2022

Year 1 have been looking at lots of grammar such as suffixes, prefixes, question marks and exclamation marks. We have been looking at the different groups within the animal kingdom such as birds, mammals, invertebrates and pond life. Ask us all about it!

We have had Mrs Knight in helping us practise our ball skills and applying them to games. It has been really fun!

All of Year 1 went for a trip to St Richards Church. We loved seeing Mother Lucy and learning about the artefacts found in the church.

In maths we have been learning about time, o’clock and half past. We have also been learning how to count in 2’s, 5’s and 10’s. We then moved onto looking at equal and unequal groups ready to begin learning about arrays.

We looked at the artist David Hockney, we looked at some of his paintings and then had a go at re-creating our own in his style.

We of course have been very busy practising lots of phonics in preparation for our Phonics Screening Test!
